I really wanted to LOVE this book, but I didn't.I feel sort of bad giving this only 2 stars. He did however confess to me at an Urbana Missions Conference with 20,000 students, 1/3 of which were Asian, that it was the first time he didn’t feel like an outsider. Like the mother in the story, I always had an affinity for Korean children and the mothers letter to her daughter brought tears to my eyes. Interesting read about a family in the South who adopt a Korean girl in 1978 and the repercussions from that event. It starts out by being about the Korean baby and takes a turn about 25% in to become a story about the father.
The story was entertaining and kept me wanting more. There is excellent development of the characters and a very interesting story of an adoption and the impact on the family and Charleston society. FRIDAY!!!! I'm not sure if it's proper to upload this. OR It was a piddley amount, meaning it sure wasn't much.How Do You Like Them Apples? This story was told from many different POV's and really held my interest. Book club selection. The journey to Korea was the reality check needed for the son of the south attorney. The characters were well developed and believable.

Dark tan from working on the farm. These baby girl names will remind you of flowers, lace, prairies, and old-fashioned values. "A Southern Girl" pales in comparison. Two cultures with strong traditions. The end was a bit predictable and nearly tied up but overall it was still a great read.This story takes place in Charleston's South of Broad neighborhood. To some, southern names may be more about a place while for others it can be something totally different.
