In Durban, it is not as big of an issue as in other cities of South Africa. Rent costs and the overall cost of living in Durban are lower than in Cape Town. I love this city, warts and all and in spite of her frequent bad moods.

Be aware of criminals waiting around at Johannesburg and Cape Town airports and then following tourists to their accommodation to rob them.
