But there are rare moments where they actually shine (such as the dance at the Fireman's ball where he saves her from a drunken comrade), and it's not a complete waste of time. But the ending was satisfactory (if predictable), and the fiancée was sufficiently horrific to relieve you of any guilt about her being so easily cast aside.
