Gordon Lowden, a former president of the Institute of Scottish Chartered Accountants, has died at the age of 85. Gordon Lowden Description. After the family returned to Scotland he attended Dundee High School from 1932-35 and Strathallan from 1935-44.He served in the Royal Navy after school before attending St John’s College, Cambridge. He graduated with his MA in law and then got his LLB and CA at Dundee.Mr Lowden became a chartered accountant and became a partner at Moody, Stuart and Robertson.He met Kathleen at a rugby dance and the couple married on September 2 1953 in St Mary’s, Dundee.Both sons became chartered accountants and Sally now lives in Australia, where she works in event management.Mr Lowden became a partner lecturer in accountancy at Dundee University and was chairman of Dundee Port Authority from 1979-92.He was also president of the Institute of Scottish Chartered Accountants.He worked for the Matthew Trust and was on the board of governors at Strathallan School.Mr Lowden is survived by Kathleen, David, Stuart, Sally, seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.Sign up for our daily newsletter of the top stories in Courier countryThank you for signing up to The Courier daily newsletter
