Now we have Istanbul’s favourite, Yeni, opening on Soho’s Beak Street. Unser alteingesessenes Restaurant, das seinen Ursprung in Venedig hat, ist jetzt überall auf der Welt zu finden. While the curries are accomplished and spicy, it is some of the simpler sides and sambols that really knock your socks off, including the fiery roast potatoes, the split red lentil dal and fried cashew nuts - the latter in particular are a real treat.
One of the very best addresses in Soho. Located on once-scuzzy Denman Street, off Piccadilly Circus, Kricket is the first restaurant proper for Newcastle Uni friends Will Bowlby and Rik Campbell, whose original Kricket was housed in a shipping container in Brixton. The Townhouse is very comfortable too, and the food never misses a beat, be it fish, shellfish, meat or game.
From the first-rate cocktails in the upstairs bar (make ours a Rob Roy, the drink we're tipping for refound glory this year) to the confit duck leg in a jar and gutsy roast hake with black quinoa in the Michelin-starred restaurant below, the only thing keeping us away is the noise.

Täglich 11:30 bis 22:00 Uhr, Freitag & Samstag bis 22:30 Uhr.
The Yellow Fairy alone, a gin-based cocktail with absinthe, turmeric and egg white, is worth the indignity of the squeeze at the bar and the thumping music. And although sitting at a counter can often feel a little squished, the open kitchen here is a treat. It’s where world-class restaurants meets busy bars, hot nightlife, gigs, theatre, fashion and fetish. We're talking traditional Thai spicy. Acquired and reopened last year by the irrepressible Brian Clivaz (of Home House and Arts Club fame), this historic Soho resto does wonderful snails (of course), foie gras with kumquats and a rich coq au vin. Chopped duck and offal is another champion chaos.Lamb chops, seared to the point of blistering yet vibrant pink within, which comes with a soaringly fresh wild garlic chutney, and a gutsy curry of pumpkin and paneer in a creamy tomato-based makhani sauce.
